2.26. The storage batteryTo work with the storage battery it is necessary in goggles. It is impossible to suppose hits of drops of acid and the particles containing connections of lead, in eyes, on a skin or clothes.
The electrolit is very aggressive. Use protective gloves and points. Do not incline the battery – from ventilating apertures the electrolit can pour out. At electrolit hit in eyes immediately wash out their pure water within several minutes. After that necessarily address to the doctor. At electrolit hit on a skin or clothes it is necessary to neutralise at once acid alkaline soap and to wash out a corresponding place a considerable quantity at its finest. If by mistake the electrolit has got in an organism, urgently address to the doctor.
At gymnastics of storage batteries the explosive mix of gases is allocated.
At work with wires and electric devices it is forbidden to use fire, the sparking devices open by fire-dangerous light devices and smoking. It is necessary to avoid occurrence искрения at the reference with wires and electric devices. Never close directly battery plugs – there is a big danger of reception of a trauma because of strong искрения.
Before carrying out of any works on system of an electric equipment of the car disconnect "a minus" wire from the storage battery. At replacement of lamps накаливания it is enough to switch off corresponding switches.
At a detachment of the storage battery from the onboard electric system of the car disconnect at first "a minus" wire, then плюсовый. At the working engine it is impossible to disconnect the battery, electronic devices of system of an electric equipment otherwise will be damaged.
At battery installation on the car it is necessary to connect at first плюсовый a wire, and then – "minus".
To protect the case of the storage battery from influence of ultra-violet radiation, it is not necessary to store the battery at a direct daylight.
Check of level of electrolit

The storage battery under normal conditions car operation practically does not demand service. At an air heat it is recommended to check from time to time electrolit level in the battery. It is necessary to check also electrolit level at battery gymnastics. It should be always between labels MIN and a MOVE, put on the longitudinal parties of the battery (fig. 2–30).
At decrease in level of electrolit it is necessary to add in corresponding banks the distilled water to a label the MOVE. It should be made before electrolit level will fall below label MIN.
Do not pour electrolits above necessary level as it will follow through a ventilating aperture. It can lead to damage of a paint and varnish covering and body corrosion.
After доливки electrolits it is necessary to close densely corresponding storage banks stoppers.
Operation in winter conditions
In the winter on the storage battery especially big loading is necessary. Besides, at low temperature the battery gives at engine start-up only a part of that capacity which it has at positive temperature. Therefore it is recommended to check up before the beginning of a winter season the storage battery and if necessary дозарядить it.
If the car at very strong frosts throughout several weeks is not maintained, it is necessary to remove the storage battery and to place it in storage in a heated premise that it has not frozen and thereof has not collapsed.
If the storage battery has been disconnected from an onboard network and again attached to it
In case of a detachment of the battery from an onboard network:
– All information in a memory of the onboard computer is erased;
– All information in a memory of memory of positions of a driver's seat is erased;
– Hours with стрелочной indication stop, with digital indication – get off;
– The receiver established on manufacturer is blocked;
– The automatic device of lifting and lowering of glasses with эpower windows does not work.
After connection of the storage battery to an onboard network it is necessary to establish anew hours both with стрелочной, and with digital indication.
Then it is necessary to restore functioning of the automatic device of lifting and lowering of glasses.
Besides, it is necessary to load the block of memory of positions of a driver's seat.
The radio receiver established on manufacturer can be resulted in a working condition only by means of input of a corresponding code (the Management on using a radio receiver in section 1 see).
Removal and installation of the storage battery
Switch off ignition.
Remove the right decorative lateral panel and the trunk floor panel.
Disconnect the tyre of grounding of the storage battery, located in the floor panel.

Remove the negative plug 1 (fig. 2–31) from the storage battery and move it aside.
Disconnect from the storage battery a hose 4 taps of gases.
Unscrew a bolt 3 and remove an arm of fastening of the battery.
For handles lift the storage battery and remove it from the car.
Installation
Installation is spent to sequences, return to removal, taking into account the following.
At installation of the storage battery do not press a hose intended for tap of gases, allocated at work of the storage battery. In the pipeline of tap of gases the valve which protects the storage battery from return flash is located.
Fix the storage battery an arm and screw in a bolt of fastening of an arm, having tightened its moment 20 Нм.
Check up reliability of fastening of the battery, otherwise term of its service can decrease considerably.
Connect to the battery at first the positive plug, then negative and fix them, having tightened nuts of fastening by the moment 5 Нм.
Lift glasses electric glass lifts upwards against the stop. Then press all switches стеклоподъемника once again, at least for 1 second, in position of closing for activation of the block of management glass lifts.
Establish time for hours.
