2.4. System of cooling of the engine
System of cooling of the engine fill on manufacturer with a cooling liquid of long action with which it is not necessary to replace.
The cooling liquid consists of 60 % of water and 40 % низкотемпературного concentrate G12 A8D (низкотемпературный structure on a basis этиленгликоля with anticorrosive additives). This mix not only provides working capacity of system of cooling of the engine to temperature–25 °С, but also protects from detail corrosion, especially from easy alloys. Besides, it prevents a scaling and essentially raises temperature of boiling of a cooling liquid.
Therefore the maintenance nizkotempe-raturnogo a concentrate in a warm season and in the countries with a warm climate it is impossible to reduce доливкой waters. The share низкотемпературного a concentrate in a solution should be not less than 40 %.
In the conditions of a severe climate it is possible to raise the maintenance of concentrate G12 A8D, but no more than 60 % (the temperature of freezing of a cooling liquid in this case will make nearby–40 °С) as at большем percentage низкотемпературного a concentrate the temperature of freezing will start to raise and indicators of a thermal capacity and heat conductivity of a cooling liquid will worsen.
In quality низкотемпературного a concentrate it is necessary to use only structure G12 A8D or a concentrate with specification TL–VW 774 D (pay attention to an inscription on container).
Other concentrates can be more aggressive first of all in relation to anticorrosive coverings.
Arisen owing to influence of a concentrate corrosion of metal details can lead to leak of a cooling liquid that in turn will cause serious damages of the engine.
At доливке a cooling liquid in no event it is impossible to mix structure G12 with others низкотемпературными concentrates (and with structure G11).
Structure G12 can be defined on red colour of a cooling liquid in a broad tank. If the cooling liquid in a broad tank of brown colour, means, structure G12 is mixed with another низкотемпературным a concentrate! In this case it is necessary to replace necessarily cooling liquid as it can become the reason of gross infringements in engine work.
Check of level and density of a cooling liquid
The broad tank of system of cooling of the engine is located in a motor compartment.
Level of a cooling liquid should be checked only on the idle engine.

On the cold engine it should be between marks MIN and MAX a broad tank, on the heated-up engine – a little above mark MAX (fig. 2–9 see).
For density check it is necessary to use ареометр.
Considerable decrease in level of a cooling liquid most likely testifies about infringement of tightness of consolidations. In this case it is necessary to address immediately in service enterprise Volkswagen.
In tight system of cooling level of a cooling liquid can decrease at an engine overheat when the cooling liquid boils and is thrown out outside.
Доливка a cooling liquid
Stop the engine and allow to it to cool down. Cover with a rag a stopper of a broad tank and cautiously turn out it counter-clockwise.
If in the circumstances at you is not present низкотемпературного concentrate G12 A8D, it is not necessary to add other concentrate to system. In this case it is possible to add water and as soon as possible necessarily to restore necessary structure of a cooling liquid addition recommended низкотемпературного a concentrate.
At the big loss of a cooling liquid доливку it is necessary to spend only on the cooled down engine to avoid its breakage.
Do not pour cooling liquid above mark MAX: the excessive liquid owing to its expansion will follow from cooling system through a safety valve located in a stopper.
Reliably screw up a stopper of a broad tank.
