2.14. Replacement and check of level of oil in an automatic transmission

Level трансмиссионного oils in an automatic transmission depends on oil temperature. For exact measurement of temperature it is required the diagnostic equipment, therefore this work it is recommended to carry out at servicing deport Volkswagen. Usually oil level in an automatic transmission remains to constants if visually it is not visible places of leaks. In that case there is no necessity to check it.
At check the temperature трансмиссионного oils should be hardly more low +35 С that is reached through small time after engine start-up. For temperature definition it is necessary to connect diagnostic equipment VW to a socket. Otherwise the temperature can be defined only roughly.
At check it is necessary to use goggles.

Establish pallet V.A.G 1306 under a transmission.

Unscrew a stopper 2 (fig. 2–21, 2–22) a drain aperture and merge oil from a transmission.
Screw in into place a stopper 2 with a new lining and tighten its moment 40 Нм.
Unscrew a stopper 1 маслоналивного apertures.
Suspend container V.A.G 1924 with oil G 052 162 A above a transmission, for example at level of facing of a radiator.
Fill in oil from container V.A.G 1924 to a bottom edge маслоналивного apertures.
Start up the engine in a mode of idling and add oil to a bottom edge маслоналивного apertures.
Remove container V.A.G 1924, screw in a stopper in маслоналивное an aperture and tighten it by hand.
At engine work idling press a pedal of a brake and move the selector lever serially to all positions with a delay in each position on 2–3 with.
Switch off ignition.
Check up oil level in an automatic transmission.

Check of level of oil
To check oil level it is necessary on the car which is in horizontal position, with a transmission, heated-up to temperature 30 С, and the lever of the selector translated in position P. The conditioner and a heating system should be switched off.
Connect device V.A.G 1551 for reading of malfunctions.
Start up the engine in a mode of idling and check up temperature of a transmission which should be no more than 30 С.
At temperature of an automatic transmission from +35 to +40 С unscrew a carving stopper 1 маслоналивного apertures (fig. 2–21 see). Oil level normal if oil slightly follows outside (as a result of level increase at heating).
If level is insufficient, add oil in маслоналивное an aperture.
Screw in a stopper in маслоналивное an aperture and tighten its moment 60 Нм.

Check of a condition of oil
At check of level of oil in an automatic transmission check up also an oil condition. Compare it on colour, a smell and viscosity to new oil.
If oil in a transmission dark or nearly so black with жженым a smell, means, frictional overlays of a transmission are worn out.
If oil in a transmission of dairy colour, means, water has got to it. It can occur at constant operation of the car for short trips. If colour of oil does not change after a long trip, it is necessary to replace oil.
Oil can become dark brown colour, sticky to the touch because of an overheat of a transmission or its too high level in a box. If replacement of oil does not give result, it is necessary to address in a specialised workshop.
If at check of level of oil or oil replacement in an automatic box in oil particles of a dirt or a metal shaving are found out, it is necessary продиагностировать or to repair an automatic transmission at specialised servicing deport.
