24.9. The storage battery

The storage battery is located in the right back part of a luggage carrier, under the floor panel.
At a detachment of plugs of the battery in blocks of memory of control means the data about the written down malfunctions is erased, therefore before a detachment of plugs it is recommended to address in a specialised workshop for a call from memory of the malfunctions written down in it. After connection of the plug of the accumulator it is necessary to activate and reprogram glass lifts with an electric drive, and also position of rear-view mirrors and seats.
If in the car the radio receiver with a code before a detachment of plugs from the storage battery, check up is established, whether there is at you a code for repeated activation of the receiver. Otherwise to place a radio receiver in operation it will be possible only in a specialised workshop.
The new storage battery should be equipped by system of tap of the gases formed at work of the battery.

Rules of care of the storage battery
To keep high working capacity of the storage battery for a long time, it is necessary:
– At the idle engine to switch off all electric devices in the car;
– To disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the storage battery;
– Each 15–20 days (through 2500 km of run) to clear the storage battery of a dirt in order to avoid its self-discharge. With the same purpose it is necessary to eliminate begin to flow electrolits and to isolate from the case a fixing framework;
– The storage battery should be reliably fixed on the car. Watch that tips of wires have been strongly fixed on plugs of the storage battery, explosion otherwise is possible;
– The storage battery can continuously work in стартерном a mode no more than 15 with; the break between cycles should ' make not less than 60 with;
– Periodically to check the voltmeter the pressure developed by the generator. Indications are necessary for removing directly on plugs of the storage battery at the working, heated-up engine. The pressure size should be within 13,8–14,5 In;

Allow to the battery to thaw, and then try to restore its work as gymnastics as a current of small force. Such battery still can serve. The crack in bank of a served accumulator room of the battery not always demands its replacement. Pour out electrolit, dry up, wash out gasoline a crack and process its file. Check of the storage battery
Check electrolit density in the storage battery every 3 month.
Check is spent ареометром. At definition of density of electrolit it is necessary to consider its temperature. At electrolit temperature more low 15 С on everyone 10 С below this temperature from the measured density subtract value 0,007; from above 15 C add 0,007.

Electrolit density measure in everyone bank. The difference in density 0,04 or more between two any banks specifies in loss of electrolit or сульфатацию plates.

Gymnastics of the storage battery
Before gymnastics remove the storage battery from the car.
For gymnastics use зарядным or the zarjadno-starting arrangement. Charge the battery a current equal of 0,1 capacities of the battery until the electrolit density will not raise within 4 hours.
Use of a current of the big force for fast gymnastics of the storage battery as in this case accumulator plates can warp because of an overheat is not recommended.
During gymnastics of the battery the electrolit temperature should not exceed 37,8 С.

Switch off ignition. Remove the right lateral decorative panel and the trunk floor panel. Disconnect the tyre of grounding of the storage battery, located in the floor panel. Remove the negative plug 1 from the storage battery and move it aside (fig. 18–11).
Disconnect from the storage battery a hose 4 for tap of gases.
Turn away a bolt 3 and remove an arm of fastening of the storage battery.
Remove the battery from the car.

Installation
Installation is spent to sequences, return to removal, taking into account the following.
At installation do not press a hose intended for tap of gases, allocated at work of the storage battery. In the pipeline of tap of gases there is a valve which protects the battery from return flash.
Fix the storage battery an arm and screw in a bolt of its fastening, having tightened the moment 20 Нм.
Check up reliability of fastening of the storage battery, otherwise battery service life it can be reduced.
Connect to the battery at first the positive plug, then negative and fix plugs, having tightened nuts of fastening by the moment 5 Нм.
Include a radio receiver and enter into it a code.
Lift glasses electric glass lifts upwards against the stop. Then press all switches стеклоподъемника once again, at least for 1 second, in position of closing for activation of the block of management glass lifts.
Establish time for hours.

Gymnastics system
If the control lamp of gymnastics of the battery does not burn at ignition inclusion, check up reliability of connection of wires to the generator, serviceability of a control lamp and an integrity of its chain. If the lamp still does not burn, check up an electric chain from the generator to a lamp. If all electric chains are serviceable, means, the generator is faulty and it should be replaced or repaired.
If the control lamp of gymnastics of the battery burns at engine work, stop the engine and check up a condition and a tension driving a generator belt, and also connection of wires to the generator.
The pressure regulator can be checked up as follows.
Connect the voltmeter to the storage battery and start up the engine.
Increase frequency of rotation before stabilisation of indications of the voltmeter which should show 12–13 In, but no more than 14 Century
Include a maximum quantity of consumers of the electric power (a headlight, a heater of back glass, the heater fan). Thus the pressure developed by the generator with a regulator of pressure, should make 13–14 Century
If pressure does not correspond to these values, the worn out brushes of the generator, weak springs of brushes, faulty a regulator of pressure or the diode, winding breakage статора or defective contact rings of a rotor can be a cause of defect.
