Removal

Unscrew a nut and remove a wire from conclusions B + the traction relay of a starter (fig. 18–22).
Disconnect an electric socket from conclusions 50 traction relays of a starter.
Unscrew bolts of fastening of a starter and remove a starter from below the car. The bottom bolt of fastening of a starter the wire of connection with "weight" (the engine / a transmission) fastens also.
Installation
Installation is spent to sequences, return to removal, taking into account the following.
Tighten bolts of fastening of a starter the moment 65 Нм.
Tighten a nut of fastening of a wire to a conclusion B + the traction relay of a starter the moment 16 Нм.

Unscrew a nut and remove a wire from a conclusion B + the traction relay of a starter (fig. 18–23).
Disconnect an electric socket from a conclusion 50 traction relays of a starter (fig. 18–23 see).

Unscrew the top bolt with a nut of fastening of a starter to a transmission (fig. 18–24).
Unscrew the bottom bolt of fastening of a starter and remove a starter (fig. 18–24 see). The bottom bolt of fastening of a starter also крепит a wire of connection with "weight" (the engine / a transmission).
Installation
Installation is spent to sequences, return to removal, taking into account the following.
Tighten bolts of fastening of a starter the moment 65 Нм.
Tighten a nut of fastening of a wire to a conclusion B + the traction relay of a starter the moment 16 Нм.
Eight-cylinder petrol engines (3,7 and 4,2)

Turn away screws and remove an engine casing (fig. 18–25).
Loosen the collars also remove the branch pipe of an air inlet connecting the air filter and the case of throttle knot.

Unscrew bolts, remove a casing of the fan of a radiator and move it aside, without disconnecting from it wires (fig. 18–26).
Remove a casing from a rack of a suspension bracket and the case of the air filter.
Establish holders V.A.G 3180 on the engine.
Check up, that all electric wires, hoses, branch pipes and pipelines have been disconnected from the engine.
Suspend capture on таль load-carrying capacity not less than 500 kg and fix it for holders on the engine.
Establish on support of racks of a forward suspension bracket an adapter 10 222А/4 and the load-lifting device 10 222А for engine support.
Suspend on the load-lifting device capture 3033 and fix it on the engine.

Unscrew a connecting nut and disconnect топливопровод from a pressure regulator (fig. 18–27).
Insert an additional hook of the load-lifting device 10–222А into an eye on a pressure regulator.
Rotating the screw of the load-lifting device 10–222А, lift capture 3033 and an additional hook the engine so that the engine and transmission weight was perceived by the load-lifting device.

Unscrew the bottom bolts (fig. 18–28) engine fastenings to the bottom frame.

Unscrew bolts of fastening of the right support of the jack of a twisting moment (fig. 18–29).
Rotating the screw of the load-lifting device 10–222А, lift the engine so that engine support have separated from the bottom frame.

Unscrew bolts of fastening of the right support of the engine and release clips of fastening of wires (fig. 18–30).

Unscrew a nut and remove a wire from a conclusion B + the traction relay of a starter (fig. 18–31).
Disconnect an electric socket from a conclusion 50 traction relays of a starter (fig. 18–31 see).

Unscrew the bottom bolt of fastening of a starter to the engine (fig. 18–32).
Unscrew the top bolt of fastening of a starter to a transmission.
Unscrew two bolts and remove a starter.
Installation

Tighten bolts of fastening of a starter the moment 65 Нм.
Tighten a nut of fastening of a wire to a conclusion B + the traction relay of a starter the moment 16 Нм.
Check and removal of the traction relay of a starter
Remove a starter.
Using additional wires of the big section, connect the starter case to the negative plug of the storage battery, and the positive plug – to a conclusion 50. If thus приводная the starter gear wheel moves forward, but the starter engine does not rotate, means, the anchor of a starter is faulty or contacts of the traction relay have scorched.
If the starter gear wheel does not move forward, means, the traction relay has failed and it is necessary to replace it.
Unscrew a nut and disconnect a wire going from the electric motor of a starter to the bottom contact of the traction relay.
Unscrew screws and remove the traction relay from a starter.
