20.4. The steering mechanismRemoval
The steering mechanism acts in film together with steering draughts and the shock-absorber of the steering mechanism.
Before a detachment of the storage battery find out, whether there is at you a code of inclusion of a radio receiver.
Switch off ignition and disconnect a wire of "weight" from the storage battery.
Establish wheels for movement directly forward and take out a key from the ignition lock. Slightly shake a steering wheel here and there that the steering column was blocked.
Screw-driver edge as the lever remove a decorative fringing of casings of a steering column.

Unscrew a nut 1 (fig. 14–8 see) fastenings of the universal hinge of a steering column.
Loosen the эксцентриковый a bolt, turning it clockwise, also take out it.
Loosen the bolts of fastening of a steering column.
Moving downwards, remove the universal hinge of a steering column from a shaft of the steering mechanism.
Remove in the car consolidation of a steering shaft.

Loosen the bolts of fastening of forward wheels, lift a forward part of the car and fix on supports. Remove forward wheels.

Using clips 3094, press pressure head and returnable hoses of hydraulic system of the amplifier of a steering (fig. 14–12).

Unscrew bolts of fastening of steering bent for to rotary fists and squeeze out downwards steering draughts (fig. 14–13).
On cars with diesel engines V6 TDI remove thermofilters of the engine which close access to bolts of fastening of the steering mechanism.

On the right party of the car unscrew bolts of fastening of steering transfer (fig. 14–14). For simplification of access to a bolt remove a gasoline pipe line from the holder and move it aside.

On a car left-hand side unscrew bolts and remove a part of the casing closing an arch of a wheel (fig. 14–15).
Establish under the steering mechanism capacity for gathering of a following liquid.

Through a wheel arch unscrew from the steering mechanism pressure head and returnable hoses of hydraulic system of the amplifier of a steering (fig. 14–16).
At presence disconnect an electric socket from valves Servotronic.

Through a wheel arch unscrew two bolts of fastening of a left-hand side of the steering mechanism (fig. 14–17).
Disconnect the steering mechanism from the lock mechanism from an underside of the memory chamber.
Remove the steering mechanism from the car through a wheel arch.
Installation
At installation it is necessary to use new nuts, sealing rings and collars.

Before installation of the steering mechanism establish рейку in average position, unscrew a carving stopper and instead of it manually screw in adjusting adaptation V.A.G 1907 (fig. 14–19 see).

Check up freedom of moving and position of hoses of the steering mechanism (fig. 14–18).
Establish the steering mechanism and fix its lock mechanism from an underside of the memory chamber.
Fix the steering mechanism bolts, having tightened them in sequence And, In and With the moment 70 Нм (fig. 14–17 see).
Release the mechanism of adjustment of a steering column and establish it in the position close to the horizontal.
Establish the universal hinge on a steering shaft, insert эксцентриковый a bolt, turn it counter-clockwise, screw on a bolt a nut and tighten its moment 40 Нм (fig. 14–8 see).
Unscrew adjusting adaptation V.A.G 1907, instead of it screw in in the steering mechanism a carving stopper and tighten its moment 12 Нм (fig. 14–19).
The further installation is spent to sequences, return to removal, taking into account the following.
Add a liquid in hydraulic system of the amplifier of a steering and remove from it air.
Check up hydraulic system of the amplifier of a steering on absence of leaks.
Connect "a weight" wire to the storage battery.
Lift glasses electric glass lifts upwards against the stop. Then press all switches стеклоподъемника once again, at least for 1 second, in position of closing for activation of the block of management glass lifts.
Establish time for hours.
