1.12. Engine start-up
The general instructions
At engine work indoors there is a danger of a poisoning!
Before start-up of the engine the lever of switching of a mechanical transmission should be in neutral position (the selector of an automatic transmission – in position Р or N), the lay brake is included.
On the car with a mechanical transmission during engine start-up to squeeze out a coupling pedal – the starter should rotate only a cranked shaft of the engine.
As soon as the engine will start to work, it is necessary to release immediately the ignition key – the starter should not rotate together with an engine flywheel.
Start-up of the cold engine short time is accompanied by the raised noise as pressure of oil in hydrojacks клапанных backlashes has not reached necessary value. This normal phenomenon.
Do not suppose work of the heated-up engine during parking.
While the engine has not got warm to normal working temperature, do not suppose high frequency of rotation and the big loading of the engine.
At towage of cars with catalytic neutralizer of the fulfilled gases stop attempt to start up engine if the distance which was overcome by the towed car, exceeds 50 m. not Burnt down fuel can get in каталитический neutralizer and damage it.
Before to try to start up the engine by means of towage, it is necessary to try to start up it прикуриванием from the storage battery of other car.
These engines are equipped by system of injection of fuel which at any temperature of air automatically provides an optimum parity of fuel and air.
Before start-up of the cold or heated-up engine and during start-up it is not necessary to press an accelerator pedal.
If through 10 with it is not possible to start up the engine, repeat attempt through 30 with.
If the engine again is not started up, check up the fuse of the electric drive of the fuel pump.
After start-up of very hot engine allow some time to work to it at average frequency of rotation.
After inclusion at position movement Ignition is included a control lamp depending on temperature of a cooling liquid of the engine can signal about necessity of prestarting heating.
Start-up of the cold engine
At air temperature above +5 С the engine can be started up at once without prestarting heating. During start-up it is not necessary to press an accelerator pedal.
At air temperature more low +5 С a key in the ignition lock turn in position 2 – the control lamp of prestarting heating will light up. The lamp will go out after achievement of temperature, sufficient for fuel ignition.
When the prestarting heating is included, all other heavy users of a current should be switched off – otherwise the storage battery will be overloaded by a current of the big force.
Right after deenergizings of a control lamp start up the engine.
During start-up do not press an accelerator pedal.
At unstable ignition of fuel in the engine give the chance to a starter to work some more seconds (no more than 30) while the engine cannot work independently.
If the engine is not started up, once again include prestarting heating and try to start up the engine as it is described above. If and this time it is not possible to start up the engine, check up the fuse of a prestarting heater.

The control lamp of inclusion of prestarting heating does not light up – the engine can be started up.
Start-up of the engine after development of fuel from a fuel tank
If fuel in a tank of the car with the diesel engine is completely spent, process of start-up of the engine after refuelling can longer proceed, than usually, – to 1 mines as the system of giving of fuel is released from air being in it only in the course of engine start-up.
After high long loading on the engine it is not necessary to switch off at once it – allow to the engine to work idling during 2 mines to avoid sharp temperature drop in its various parts.
After a stop of the engine the fan can still long time (to 10 mines) to rotate even at the switched off ignition. The fan can suddenly join after a while also:
– At rise in temperature of a cooling liquid because of presence большего temperature drop in various parts of the engine;
– On the hot engine at rise in temperature in a motor compartment on the sun.
Therefore at work in a motor compartment be especially attentive!
